On Saturday, the 20th of October, the MSA Kansai team organized a welcome meet for the newly arrived international scholars in the Kansai area. It was designed as an interactive event primarily aimed at sharing of experiences from the current scholars and alumni to the newly arrived scholars. The venue was provided by the Graduate School of Asian and African Studies at Kyoto University.

The first half of the welcome meet started with a self-introduction of all the participants. 36 people from different universities in the Kansai area participated in this event.

It was followed by a presentation addressing different aspects of life of an international scholar in Japan. The presentation is designed by the MSA Kansai team and can be downloaded from the following link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/yulz5urqqicmbx2/MSA_Welcome_Kyoto_Oct_2018.pdf?dl=0

The second half of the event was a networking nabe party. Food was plentiful and the mood was cheerful. The networking party witnessed an informal interaction between the current scholars, alumni and the newly arrived scholars.

MSA would like to thank everyone who joined us and made this event a success. We are looking forward to see you guys at our future events. We are also grateful to Graduate School of Asian and African Area Studies, Kyoto University, for their constant support and always being ready to provide us with a venue for our events.

Once again MSA extends a hearty welcome to all the newly arrived Scholars in Japan and wishes you all the best for your stay here!
