About This Programme

The MEXT Scholars Association (MSA), in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) and the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO), successfully hosted the 2025 Reception for MEXT Scholars on Saturday, June 21. The event, held at the JASSO Tokyo International Exchange Center (TIEC), brought together international students for a day dedicated to academic networking, cultural immersion, and community building.

The reception began with a powerful Wadaiko (Japanese Drums) performance by Rikkyo University Gashodan Ahirukai. Welcoming remarks were delivered by distinguished representatives, including Okuno Shin, Deputy Director-General of the Higher Education Bureau at MEXT, and Yoshino Toshio, Vice President of JASSO. Ashutosh Shukla, president of the MSA, also addressed the new students, introducing the association's activities.

Throughout the afternoon, attendees participated in a variety of activities:

  • Cultural Workshops: Scholars experienced hands-on traditional arts, including Origami, Japanese Tea Ceremony, and Noh theater.
  • Senior Scholar Seminars: A series of informational sessions provided practical advice on topics such as building a research career, navigating Japanese academia, and mastering daily life in Japan.
  • Informational Booths: Partner organizations provided resources and consultation.

The event concluded with a networking party, allowing students to connect with peers and organizers in a relaxed setting.
